I was wondering whether anyone knows how I can boost my internet speed. As I live in a rural area my internet is painfully slow getting speeds of up to 0.5mb/s. I have researched into satellite internet but they have very small download limits.

So does anyone know if there is a miracle solution to my internet problem.

Thanks.

You have my sympathy, i'm in the 3rd world of rural Norfolk and had to sit up until 4 in the morning just to update Win 7 after a clean install. 148 updates= 4.5 hours. During the day it would take 12 or more.

Looks like I can only get satellite internet but you can only get small download limits.

Does anyone know if I can get unlimited internet or something big with satellite or not.

Dont go with satellite ! The speed is just as bad, download limits are poor and the ping is usually around 2000 seconds which is a big no no for any online gaming or streaming ....

Just been to look at a house which is very rural and I'm worried about the Internet speeds. It's a deal breaker for me tbh so have been researching the 4g network maybe rolled out soon. Although I'm still not sure about putting an offer in.

4G isn't going to give you a large data allowance. You need fixed line broadband.

Yeah that's my main gripe at the moment apparently the last people there used a dongle which would have a very small allowance.

I've got hold of their telephone number and BT's online calculator says this will have a 2.5mbps up to 4mbps. I'm not sure I could live like that lol would this mean battlefield is a no go online ?

Satellite means your latency/ping will shoot up past 100ms. Online gaming with that sort of connection will be horrible. Especially large online games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield. I'd stick with what I have until further notices. Or don't give up that line and get a mobile connection for your computer for the time being. I'm still awaiting on BT Infinity on Virgin Media's 10Mb/s package. I've tried 50Mb/s and it didn't seem to get anywhere. Whatever you do don't give up your line. Get an aside package from a 3G service as well as your line. :)
