Internet in Southampton

ok I need some recommendations on good internet in southampton as the title says

So far the place I am moving to has no net, but has a working BT line so ADSL is viable. BT's best ADSL package in the area though is 6.5mb and limited to 40gb a month which sucks.

Best case senario I am looking for unlimited, but am open to suggestions. Basically I am just interested in what other Southampton people have / had and how good it is / was.

And not everyone in southampton will have the same quality internet, it all depends on the exchange your connected to, how far away you are, quality of the phone line etc....

i'm in southampton, on a 2mb comnection and 30gb limit i think. with bt, but can't be any more helpful as it's my housmates that sort out the internet stuff.

tried any of the local loop unbundled packages, such as talktalk,bulldog. try http://www.samknows.com/broadband/ and find out what services you have and go from there. I'm currently on 8mb bulldog llu not far from you in fareham and enjoying a nice low ping ie less than 15 in CS and actual 8096kbs connected speed.

I'm on NTL - unlimited 10mbit. Downloads are near perfect but ping/packetloss is a bit unreliable.

Bulldog have recently rolled out to Shirley exchange (not sure about others) so they would be my first port of call, see if you can get 16mbit from them.

I live in Southampton and am currently on NTL, which is brilliant. I'm moving about two miles up the road soon where there is no NTL

. I'm going to go with Demon ADSL, they have a good AUP and I can get an up to 8mb line.

Where abouts in Southampton are you, it can vary really quite a lot depending what exchange your on.

It's also worth pointing out that BT aren't the only ISP you can get on your BT line, even if there's no unbundled option...

I am where highfield lane and portswood meet. I looked around and atm pipex seams the best deal. Emailed them to see if I can sign up befroe my phone line is activated

What's the name of the road? Sounds fairly close to where I am now

Highfield lane.... Literally on the corner opposite the building site
