Internet is great - Just got a free BHP upgrade to the Mustang!

Hi there

I only fill up with Optimax which is RON 97.5-98 I believe so what is the equivalent in the US if it was available.

I am guessing setting the ECU to Octane 93 will be safe? :)

Hi there

If my car was say 290-310 BHP actually at the wheels what would it be at the flywheel?

Same again if got 340lb-ft of torque at the back wheels what is torque at flywheel?

Its RWD and has a live rear axle if that helps giving a good guess of actual power?

Hi there

Saleen quote 4.6s 0-60mph for the S281 and Ford quote 5.1s for the Mustang GT.

Saleen said with Supercharger fitted running at 475BHP 0-60 would be 3.4-3.6s so pretty crazy. :D

I myself have managed 4.9s with a G-Meter with just myself in the car and sub 50 miles of fuel left in the tank. :)

You will need to bring it down here and we can do the roads around the Northern Territory where theres no speed limet :D

Mickey - do you know of anywhere that sells >91 US?

Out here we have what's called E85 which is supposed to be 100 octane rating.

Out in your neck of the woods there was a station on Long Beach Blvd down by the college that sold 99 Octane fuel for racing. Mind you, that was almost 15 years ago. Probably not there any more.

From my experience, there is only one way to get the higher octane ratings, and that is to go in to a performance car parts shop and buy the 104 octane booster.

There is another way that is highly illegal that I won't explain (due to the legalities and dangers involved) that involves moth balls, but that's a story for IM'ing..... ;)

Precats are the work of Satan.

I have no idea what the ones on the Toyota MRS are made of but they're damn brittle and have a habit of having parts of themselves sucked back into the engine and wrecking everything.

I don't know if it's the same on other cars but after that experience I'm gutting the precats on every car I own in the future.
