I live in London with BT Infinity 2 (Optical Fibre package) and USED to get 70 down and 50 up. This was when i first got the service; since then, everything about it has gone completely down hill on ONE PC.

Generally, i get about 20 down and 20 up, but this varies completely. Currently im getting 0.26 and 0.03 which has angered me beyond belief and so I need some help.

I doubt its actual wireless interruptions since my iPhone 5 and Nexus 7 2 are completely fine.

Could it be my wireless adapter? This is my 3rd one im using with terrible results like the rest. Or could it be a virus? Ive only just reinstalled my antivirus after a couple of years of not using one.

Also, is there a service that can get someone to come to my house and wire my router to my room for me?
Would getting a new router help? Using the BT HomeHub 3

All help is greatly appreciated.

Ill try booting in safe mode but What if its a driver issue?
Ive thought about trying powerline adapters, but i only have two sockets in the room. I run a 12 gang extension. I hear extensions are a problem?

I see ill have a look then.
Ive got my internet running much better at the moment. But its only a temporary solution. I simply pulled my PC out so that theres more space at the back, where the antennas are.
I take it its just crappy hardware. Its an ASUS PCE N-15

If anyone has an suggestions for a good wifi card / a service that can do a single ethernet cable from my living room, to my room, please let me know!

Though that may help, my PC is located as close as it can be to get the best reception.

Ive done cables before, but I have no experience with network cables.
Does length effect the speed? And what sort of cable should I be buying? I hear people say a load of equipment is required like switches. Can I just plug it into the router and into my PC like you normally would?

Thanks for all the help mate.

Ill have to be going down one floor and getting it through doors will be a challenge but it should be fine for a days work.

Looks like I might get down to wiring it in. Does having excess wire matter? I might be changing my layout if I get ethernet into this room so excess cable coming in would be good. It wont effect any speed will it?

Got a 50m cable to use and ive only used about 20m. Either way, happy with the speeds (75 down and 25 up). Wiring didnt take too long either.
