Ive had this problem for a while, and never got round to sorting it out. Ive not idea why it happens, but my net connection just randomly shuts down say once a day or so. Sometimes its fine for a few days, anyone know why this might be happening?

hi Jimmy, could you give us a little more information, I see in your sig you are running vista 64, are you on a wireless connection? What is your network setup, just a modem/router, or is there more to it? Are there any other machines connected to the Internet? Does it drop out when you are using your computer, or when you are not at your computer, or a combination of both? How do you reset it so the Internet returns? Are you on ADSL or cable, and are you aware of any upgrades in your street going on at the moment?

Where a few of us were havign this problem. There are a bunch of possible fixes in there... the main ones being
1. Disable power management on ehternet adapter
2. Disable Bonjour DNS service, as discussed by the ever helpful davethe11.
The steps for both are in the thread I've linked. Number 2 solved this problem for me
