Internet keeps slowing & stopping, a nightmare!

For the past few weeks my internet has been driving me crazy.

Literally nothing has changed, no settings on the computer, no connections with wires, absolutely nothing.

But for some reason my internet is awfully slow. It is a 5mb connection but weirdly it now always syncs at exactly 3999kb in the router settings (when before it would sync at different speeds, mostly 5000kb+).

For example streaming youtube is a nightmare. I can just about stream 360p videos, I have to leave videos to load for almost 5 minutes before I can watch them without any buffering.

However when playing League of Legends I get low lag and no problems which is unusual.

Also this happens with either wired or wireless connection. It's worse with wireless since the connection just freezes for a bit then starts working again..

I really need some tech wizards to help me with this!

Have you looked to see if there is a new firmware for the router. Might give the router a jump start and help with the connection. Other than checking for noise on the line to see if there is an issue. Check the micro filters as well. You never know with those things.

Yeah I have the latest firmware.

I remembered I had a spare TP Link router, just tried to configure and set it up but that failed too :(

Don't get me wrong the internet works but it keeps stopping every now and then and wireless just doesn't work properly either.

Any reason why the sync speed in the router page now syncs at exactly 3999kb? for the past few years that number used to change every time the router was rebooted and it used to sync at over 6000kb from what I remember
