what exactly does she want to stop ?

anything and everything

or ony allow access to a "whitelist" of known safe sites ?

or just plain filtering out of nasty stuff ?

also what OS is the PC they are using ?

thats the stuff you can lock down in policy editor

which is of course unavailable on XP home.

if she's got XP pro it could be really easy to do wihtout any downloads.

except restrictions applied in group policy affect all users including admins.... ;)

this works on any version of xp and applies restrictions on a per user basis. it has more options and is more user friendly. but oh noes you have to download and install it?

cheers guys that's spot on!!

i have just blocked firefox and iexplorer.

that will do for now. the user in question is "pc" smart but was download loads on porn and causing his mums pc to get bogged down with spyware and virus.

i'll make and changes if there needed remotley, (save another dinner with the in-laws).

never said that was a bad thing

just merely commented that if they were using XP pro, the computer could be locked down in a similar fashion using GPedit.
