Ok i have a somewhat strange problem with my internet at the moment, ive had a fair few problems with my isp/router/service and am changing soon because of it but at the moment i need to try and sort this out.

The problem i have is that all the computers in the house cannot connect to the internet apart from one, they all say they are connected to the network but the only one that can actually access the internet is my downstairs desktop pc.

Downstairs desktop - xp - wireless usb dongle - internet works
upstairs desktop - vista x64 - wireless pci card - no internet
3 x laptop - xp/vista/mac OS X - built in wireless - no internet

as i said, ive had problem with the internet going down before but never with one pc working and the rest not. Ive tried connecting to the router via ethernet, resetting stuff in the router config, disconnecting, reconnecting etc etc and nothing has worked so far.

Yesterday it was fine all day on the one computer but intermittent on the others, would come back for say an hour or so and then either be really slow and not load certain pages or not work at all.

Any troubleshooting tips or advice would be much appreciated, i dont want to have to keep using this hunk of junk for the internet

Thanks

nope, working pc is downstairs, port is forward on upstairs desktop.

All connected to my router, "livebox" from orange broadband.

ok its back up at the moment, incredibly slow, speedtests not completing, webpages not loading, cant things in command prompt - "request timed out". bbc.co.uk for example

Any ideas?

yeah, machines have ip addresses and everything shows up as connected, like normal.

Seems to be significantly worse on my upstairs desktop now, almost normal on my vista laptop.

Sounds like its either very weak signal or the router aint set up right for the other client pc's.
More likely a weak signal, since you've mentioned the other pc's have managed to get on at some point previous.
Have you thought about getting a couple of Powerline adapters?
