Hi Everyone,

I'm looking into buying a phone, but i need a phone that i can plug into my Laptop and access the Internet from anywhere with a signal. Since a lot of the phones comming out now have this capability; i'd like to know of some of them. Preferably, i'd like a low cost phone.

Any ideas guys? :)

Regards,
Kevin

You want to use a mobile phone to access the internet or do you want to make phone calls while connected to the internet?

It sounds like he wants a phone to plug into his laptop or pda so he can surf the net whist out and about, but phones have been able to do this for a long time so he must mean he wants a phone to use through a pc so he can make cheap calls via the internet.

GPRS is probably what you want to use. Together with a bluetooth USB adapter, it works a lot like wireless broadband albeit with a fair amound of lag. Something like the Sony Ericsson w810i or k800i would be ideal.

Sorry for the misunderstanding guys, yes Felix LaPoubelle, you had it bang on in your first comment. I only need to be able to surf the internet while out and about.

Is there a subscription charge or do you pay as you use it? What would be the best network to access the internet from?

Thanks guys
kevin

You don't pay for the amount of time spent online, just the ammount of data transferred. There are all sorts of deals, I believe orange had an unlimited usage for £1/day on pay as you go!
