Hi,
I've been having lots of problems recently with my internet, I rang Virgin to see if they could give me some help and after 20 minutes they came to the conclusion that there was a problem with my "win socks"? As my IP address always started with "169"?.
Unfortunately, Virgin aren't allowed to help with the process of resetting my, "win socks", and they gladdly left me in a hopeless state. So I read up on the problem, tried a few process and still no luck!
I eventually became annoyed and lobbed *carefully* a new hard drive in and installed XP to see if the Internet would work? After an hour of installing XP and drivers, I was disappointed yet again, as it still came up with the same old "169" at the start of my IP address, resulting in my internet not working. Aswell as having no Gateway assigned either, or DNS etc. I then tried my ethernet cable straight from the modem, instead of the router, and still no luck!!
So I'm just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what todo?
Thanks a lot,
Matt.
PS, I'm using a Belkin wireless router.
