any suggestions?

Thanks

TBH i would ditch the netgear utility and use Windows own wireless set up, a lot easier.

Disconnect the wire, windows should then automatically show that there is a network available, click connect and enter your password.

Not too familiar with Windows 7, But if you double click the network symbol in the bottom right and click connect to a network it should show up with the wireless network box.

(Maybe someone with Windows 7 can help out here though)

As mentioned, uninstall the Netgear utility then reboot. Once rebooted you ill see the little network icon at the bottom with a goldish circle in the middle of it which indicates that their are wireless networks within the range. Click on the icon and then highlight your wireless network, connect & enter your password.

Stating the obvious but make sure that your wireless passkey is correct too.

single click and the panel pops up showing available connections.

Yeah, ditch that so-called 'assistant'. It doesn't exactly seem to be providing much 'assistance' if it requires you to specify the length of your key in bits. Using Windows will be much simpler.
