Internet Radio / Streamer

I'd be careful choosing and expensive one. They keep shutting down the platforms rendering them useless, with no apparent contractual obligation.

All dead-
Shoutcast Internet Radio Platform (BBC radio streams gone)
Reciva Internet Radio Platform
Pure Connect

You might as well buy a 'cheapo', less sunk cost. In some ways you might be better off just getting a Chromecast (or apple) compatible speaker,
you can at least change the 'streaming app' as times change. I use 'RadioDroid' a moment, it's pretty good.

yeah might be better buying BT speaker then using a phone, or a wiim mini as a source.

I have a Squeezebox Radio, probably OP wants or a new version of it, but I don't know the ability of the internet radio features, don't really use that side of things.

Didn't realise platforms come and go, I'd assume I'd just manually add stream urls like on Wiim.

Ideally wanted something I just press a switch on to turn on rather than phone faff, but a Wiim mini, remote, and active speakers could be the way as I've already got that in 2 rooms.

My Denon hi-fi supports TuneIn internet radio which has a pretty large range of stations, though I tend to only use it for BBC Radio 6.

A smart speaker might also be worth considering, Google have the Nest Audio and you can pair two together for stereo. Techmoan on YouTube also recently did a vid of the now discontinued Bose Smart Speaker 500 which looked good and had more features than a normal smart speaker, though getting hold of even a refurb might be challenging now.
