Hey all,
Need some help finding a piece of hardware im not even sure exists really.
One of my machines is headless, it sits under my desk performing several tasks without any intervention, downloading, web server etc as ive set up web based portals to do anything I need to do on it.
Today however I arrive at work, need to use one of these and the server is offline seemingly. Im only 35 miles from home and will be back in 1 hour orso, but I really could do with having rebooted this this morning.
Ive looked at using something like WOL, but can never ever get it to work, plus it wont really help in this situation.
Is there anything, outside of a fully blown (and very expensive) KVM over IP device that can do something such as connect to the power and reset headers on the mobo and also to the network and let me reset by hitting an IP or something?
If not, im guessing I could do something like buy a raspberry pi and use the GPIO pins to activate the switches when needed. The PI can run LAMP so I can set-up some web interface with the options on there but its a little out of my league. I had a Pi once and sold it shortly after as I didn't know what to do with it (kinda a Linux noob), plus id have to figure out how to use the GPIO headers.
Thanks for any replies.
