Hey all, hoping that some of you may have some insight into the cause of my problem.
I have an 8meg connection with Nildram (or Opal as they are now called, believe they may have been Pipex and Tiscali, but all that is another matter!), a Netgear DG834pn router, PC wired to the router.
It would seem that on browsing the net, or playing games I suffer from temporary "frozen" internet which is usually anything from 0.5-5 secs. Now for just internet browsing its not a major issue (although slightly annoying) because I can just press the refresh key and it will resubmit the page/address/command etc. However, I am a fan of a BF2 mod called Project Reality and find that these freezes are frustrating in game when it reduces playability and is sometimes enough to stop my connection to the gaming server completely.
It's the same in some other games, and I'm sure that its either my ISP or broadband router settings that is causing it. I've done a fresh install of Win 7 64bit on a brand new Samsung 1tb F3 HD and that hasn't solved the issue and should mean my system is free of any malware/viruses etc. but still suffer the problems.
Any ideas?
I may decide to change ISPs completely anyway as I'm definitely paying more than I could be and am looking towards the O2 Premium or Pro package as it seems to be in my area - would this be a good move?
