i have tried plugging in the router to the main phone line and no change. The phone cable and bt box is over 25 years old.

Have planed to change all the phone cables in the house right back to the bt box in the xmas hols

any ideas on what else i could do before doing that?

Thanks

i dont have a bt master socket all i have is this box

bottom cable is to the out side (bt's line)

top cable is our inside cable

i cleaned the connectors in the box and cut the end off the the cable so there is fresh cable on the connectors.

tried 3 different routers

i have managed to source a proper bt master socket with the test socket but iv been told that im not allowed to replace it because its bt's equipment?

not sure if that's right.

im not sure it is a problem with my equipment but isp will not help until i can prove it.

I have just replaced the cable from the green bt box and connected it to a new bt box (replaced with cat 5 cable as its all i had)

My connection speed has gone from 5mb up to 9mb which im happy about but im still getting the drop outs.

i cant think of anything that could be causing interference but im going to check that tomorrow when i have more time.

The router is a Netgear DG834G

Router idle time is 0 so that's ok

been thinking about getting a sky branded Netgear DG834GT and flashing it with some custom firmware to see if that may help
