I have 4mb NTL/virgin media broadband, which has always been fine, although recently it has been getting slower and slower, even after ive done a full spyware and virus check. I also recently bought a new router, after just having a modem before but wouldnt of thought that would be the problem, anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks.

I'm on the same ISP and speed and i do notice a slowdown in web browsing some times, pages take a while to load when they are normally instantaneous, but if i go on DOD the speeds are great. Not sure what could be causing it.

I was just thinking exactly the same thing with my connection. Browsing is fine, but trying to download anything, even from http://gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk results in a capped speed of between 180k and 200k

Pulling from newsgroups is the same. I have rebooted the modem and router, it appears to be a congestion/contention problem.... I'm sitting here watching my net speeds jump from 150-200k and down to 100k.

Nothing on the status pages suggests any problems..... oh well.

edit: ah the 20mb rollout is starting may 1st so they are probably messing around with stuff

The Stoke area has been plagued with problems for more than a week now. Mine was luckily fine until last night then i drop to the equivalent of a 700k connection.

I'll be honest and say I have no idea :) In the 20mb thread some say its going to 10, some don't.

VM CS is playing dumb for the 4 > 10 upgrades. There is a hint that it will probably start around september.

I'm downloading at around 450-500 from that blueyonder site, but one or two nights this week ive downloaded at 20, and my wow ping has been 200-300.

My connection is really starting to hit the fan.

1st 512K took 14422 ms = 35.5 KB/sec, approx 293 Kbps, 0.29 Mbps
2nd 512K took 14921 ms = 34.3 KB/sec, approx 283 Kbps, 0.28 Mbps
3rd 512K took 6704 ms = 76.4 KB/sec, approx 630 Kbps, 0.62 Mbps
4th 512K took 13796 ms = 37.1 KB/sec, approx 306 Kbps, 0.3 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 378 Kbps, 0.37 Mbps

Apparently the CS systems are down too now so they act even more stupid.

VM are capping heavy users, some only after 1Gig download at any one time, been happening a lot recently and although should only affect 10mb tier there seems to be a technical fault in that it is affecting other tiers, so if your 10meg connection is stuck around 4.6 and your 4 meg is at 2, then your being shaped!

I think a lot of people are having problems with the network conking out. Probably due to VM current maintenance. I need to download the latest 2142 patch. But even though it only about 250mb it's got 8 hours remaining.

I sometimes download 30Gb in 1 night, I probably hit 50Gb+ a month and I have never had my speed drop.

My 10mb connection is fine, must be certain area's suffering.
