Hi guys, i really want to share internet to my laptop but now that Netshare has been pulled i haven't been able to find a substitute unless i jailbreak my phone - which i don't want to do.

Can anyone help?

Think you're going to have to jailbreak it, any reason you don't want to? It's perfectly safe, the worst case scenario is that you'll have to do a full restore from iTunes. Any firmware updates simply install over the Jailbreak and Unjailbreak it.

USB and Wifi tether work really well and are easy to setup. It's actually faster using the Internet on a computer as the iPhone rendering is slow.

What app do you use to "tether" your phone with your PC to use the iphone as a modem?

Using a Wifi tether you don't need any, as long as your phone and computer are on the same network, either via a router/access point or adhoc then it should work. You just need to install SSH, Mobile Terminal and a proxy (such as 3Proxy) on the iPhone. On the computer yoou simply set your software to use the iPhone as a proxy (such as 192.168.1.64:1080 for example). There is other software on the iPhone that automates the proxy setup bit on the iPhone a little as well (PDANet is one but it's not free).

For USB tether you need something called iPhone Tunnel Suite for Windows, not sure about Macs. You still need to Jailbreak and install SSH for this to work, also iTunes needs to be installed on the computer (you don't have to use it, it just needs to be installed). It then works the same as the Wifi tether except your traffic is routed via the localhost (127.0.0.1:1080) which gets tunneled over USB.

Jailbreak it. Nothing wrong with it, you'd have to be VERY dumb to mess it up! :)

Is that why there is a substantial list of threads asking for help? ;):D

I do agree that it's easy.. I couldn't resist saying, though.
