Right,

Well recently moved house and after 2 weeks of no internet , the BT engineer fixed a fault at the exchange. So it's working today, I looked on the Belkin status bit and it says :

Date rate(Kbps)
8096 448
Noise margin (dB)
11.4 26.0
Output power (dBm)
19.8 12.2

Attenuation (dB)
38.0 22.0

But on speedtest it only shows 0.4mb?

Before the fault was fixed what was happening ?

If you were getting sync before the fault was fixed what was the sync rate ? as if you had a low sync and now have a higher sync it takes 3 full days at the higher sync rate for the BRAS profile on your line to update and you get the faster speeds.

No, what happened was that BT where meant to switch the telephone no. and broadband on 10am, the day I moved. The telephone switched fine, but the broadband did not and I spent 2 weeks trying to get an engineer down, who eventually did and fixed the fault, which was at the exchange. It was a brand new line at the new house.

When was the fault fixed?

IIRC, it takes 3 days for your BRAS profile to catch up with your sync. It could even be 10+ days if you haven't used ADSL MAX at your property before...

It does, yes. And he might also have a stuck profile if it hasn't updated.

Heh yeah we just moved house and they activated my broadband and it didn't work so a BT engineer fixed something in the exchange a few days later so had 2 weeks without broadband! Luckily a neighbour has an open wireless Lan. ;)

After about 5 days I started to get 8mbps speeds, it seemed to gradually increase each day. I'm with Freedom to Surf - mainly because they do 3 month contracts and I want to move to Be as soon as their in my exchange in the summer.
