Internet Speed Test!

Hi guys, probably the wrong section (again), but today i finally upgraded from 2mb to 10mb Virgin broadband and i cant find a connection test which shows the speed at 10mb?! Please direct me to a decent connection test guys!

If you only upgraded today might there be a delay in your service speed being increased?

Yes, you could possibly have to wait until overnight. Maybe need to reset your router?

Unless it's one of these services which says you'll only get the 10mb during certain hours?

whats your isp, how much, cable or adsl, is it in UK, do i need a BT line

virgin media do 10mb?? im only aware of their 2mb 4mb and 20mb (if your on 20mb your chances of reaching that are slim, i stay with 4mb

Yea as it says Im with, Be There. Its ADSL2+, you need a BT line, speeds vary on distance from exchange and line quality. Im on the Be Pro Package, Upto 24Mbps, Unlimited and its £18 p/m

I'm on 20MB cable and I never get above 2000kbps on those.

Speed tests suck for testing speeds i tried it and got 10 meg speeds but on usenet i getting 2340kbs, 20meg vm btw.

Hmm, getting my 1meg line upgraded to 5 right now, been going on for about 10 days, i want the pain the end.
Managed to do this:

But sadly for some reason for the past 3 days i have been capped to 50k between about 5-11pm...(to get upgraded i had to start another contract so i can't see it being fair usage) another strange thing is the speed often trails off from 600k down to 30...but if i load up a youtube video it goes back up above 300, so that's interesting....god i hope its normal tomorrow.
I would run a speed test now and get back about 700kb but for some reason it wont play ball, i tried to play COD4 while on ventrilo and as soon as i started connecting it would just kill vent, xfire etc....happy days.

one thing id like to know, UPLOAD speeds in uk why are they all nxt to nothin speed

i cant run a 'semi-free' game server because of it grr.

by 'semi-free' i mean i only pay for the connection, the server running itself being no extra charge. i dont wanna go and hire a server cuz thats just a waste of money on my part
