Ive just run a speed test on uncles PC cable connected in a town and on speedtest hes only getting 900kb/s and when downloading stuff we are lucky to get 100kb/s. Why could this be so slow? Im not stupid, but I dont live in a town, I live really far out in the sticks so I dream of 70kb/s:p

Should I be complaining to V***in? Or could it be his PC? Its on XP 32bit P4 2.8Ghz 512ddr1 RAM. Is his PC the problem? Cosidering bring my water cooled beast here to see if I get better speeds, good idea? What would you guys do?

Cheers

Just anything, Its not me forgeting how fast its being put onto net at. Even windows updates are downloading slower than at my house and I get 70kb/s.

It will depend on where he is downloading from - i.e the server's upstream.

It may help using a download manager to make more than one connection to the server. I'm currently using DownThemAll which is reporting between 1.82 and 2.7 MB/s from usenet on Virgin 20meg (five connections).

I don't understand what you are saying at all. What speed is he getting (in kilobytes) and what speed are you getting (in kilobytes). What ISP and package are each of you on and which one of you is that that you think is slow?
