My friend who lives in the house directly behind me has postoffice broadband for her laptop, i was working on it and thought about doing a speedtest from this site

http://www.speedtest.net/

Her results,

50ping
2700kb/s download
340kb/s upload

My results using
57ping
1032kb/s download
184kkb/s upload

Using postoffice website they say i can recieve speeds upto 1.5mb from my telephone number.

Im with UKFSN, are they doing some thing wrong? am i? is this just bad luck? i can switch providers as i have my mac code if that would help?

Thanks in advance

Firstly i would't compare 2 lines even in the same property as routing and quality of the copper wires will always vary. First things first is NTE 5 (test socket at the master sckt), no extensions, alternate filter and remove other devices. If sync does not improve post your downstream and upstream snr

First off I'd ignore speedtest.net and look at a reliable test, followed by examining what the two modems say they're connected at (as well as attenuation/SNR margin etc).
