no its from an extender but yes ethanet from plug socket to pc , all drivers installed as far as am aware , its wigi and ethanet where the problem lies

Check the WiFi channels aren't overlapping with the neighbours.

Make sure it's on 5ghz network and not defaulting to 2.4ghz, you might have to split the WiFi channels so you have 5g and 2.4g separately.

Wall socket hard wiring isnt that great, the speeds vary depending on quality of wiring etc

What speeds are you seeing on other devices?

What speed is your internet?

What WiFi router do you have, sky, talk talk etc
wifi other devices 400mbps , not a clue about splitting wifi signalz

Where though, is this next to the router or next to the PC in your sons room?

Post the make and model number of the "extender" because it isn't clear what you are using.

sx_turbo asked what router you are using?

Can you buy a cat5e / cat6 ethernet cable and run it between the router and PC?
yes i can buy does the lengh of it matter ? will be 7 meters in totals , do you have a link to aextender kits ??

ill move pc next to router tomorrow and see if that does it before i buy a oing cable and have to run it through house , its on same level new to the game and speeds not really botherd me but when it took him all day to download fortnite and 2 days for cod and its still not finished was thinkjng there’s issues

Yeah although modern games are large
If you indeed have 500Mbs (guessing here by you said 400Mbs on phone)
A rough guide would be
Download of 60 MBs that's megabytes not megabits
So approximately 3.6 GB downloaded per minute
Or approximately 1 hour to Download just over 200GB
200GB should be more than the size of most games
its BARN internet so ment to be 1000mbps

Game servers might be being hammered, depends how many people got shiny new PCs / Consoles for Xmas.

I'd pause the downloads on his PC and try speedtest.net / fast.com to double check the connection that way.
checked there its like 11mbps orange light flashing and solid green at ethanet on bavk of pc

The solid green light means theres a 100Mbps connection between the PC and the "extender"; if it was 1Gbps it would be solid Orange, if it was only a 10Mbps connection the light would be off.

The other flashing LED means its sending or recieving data.

So the "extender" has probably only got a 100Mbps port, not that its anywhere near maxing that out if you are only getting 11Mbps between the router and the "extender".
so if lights are good and means ive got 100 speed whrres my problem because it cant be from router must be pc issue? ill get the specs gor extender shortly

Answer these questions please so people can help you. Since you only mention "an extender" as in a single item I'm going to assume you have an 802.11n 2.4Ghz-only Wi-Fi "booster" with a network socket on the bottom, which is likely the cause of all your problems.
moved pc to router used same cable as whats on my extender and i was getting 860mbps wifi 260ish after i changed the setting from 100 to 1gig on pc moved back to bedroom and same 15mbps , mkae of extender tp-link model tl-pa4010

genexis router , am just gonna run a cable unless anyone has any links to a good extender 1000mbps , its going through 2 walls so thats maybe why wifi shocking

drg7820 ? is there a way i can connect another router in my sons room with ethanet vable from that but the router should also improve wifi anround house ?

so update ive up dated my tp link to av 1000 tl-wpa7517 kit , got a green flashing light at router and on back of pc solid orange and flashing yellow/light orange , i’ve tried both wifi and wired and its getting the same 50mbps any more help be good
