internet stuck identifying

been happening all day and it's driving me nuts as i have taken today to get some work done and it's stopped me. it is back now, but when it goes it gets stuck identfying the network. the router somtimes will have an orange light indicating a problem, but often it is green and the modem is fine so i'm lost what could be the problem. any help?

thanks for the help, really appreciate it. some how turning off a laptop stuck in standby has solved the issue, unsure why but thats done it any way. i have copied your suggestion and saved it on my pc so if it comes back i'll rty your suggestion
