I have a cheapo Toshiba IPS smart TV and BT Infinity 2. Streaming has never worked on it whether wired or wifi. I just bought a £150 Asus router and the problem persists. Can someone offer some advice as I am losing my mind?

I have tried the built-in streaming apps, DLNA and also most recently an Amazon stick. The signal always drops 100% without fail. Only playing from USB stick works.

Have you checked for firmware updates?

A lot of these cheapo smart tvs are useless they do not have the hardware to run the features very well and support is dropped quickly.

We have an old disused alarm system, but it's filtered. Also there's a cordless phone base station plugged into the same socket which has a built-in filter. Could it be any of these things?

The line itself was awful and had to be replaced from the pole to the house, so I hope it's not the line.

Little update that I hope helps someone somewhere:

I moved the stick from HDMI 3 to HDMI 1 and put the HDMI extender on and viola... seems to be working now. Only tested 15 mins of iPlayer however.

Supposedly the extender isolates the stick from interference in the TV backplane (wifi chip, other ports etc).
