internet usage tracking?

EDIT: right, i have answered my own original request... so what I would like now is an app that tells me which apps are talking to the net and which shows me how much bandwidth each is taking up...

I would like this cuz i've just connected my mobile broadband dongle and the usage is just going up and up but I can't see anything open that would be communicating... while writing this the usage has gone up by a meg!!!

any ideas?

I suppose Little Snitch might do this, I think it has a bandwidth monitor or something.

Otherwise, you could try CarraFix, but it hasn't been updated in donkey's years.

I did look at little snitch but it only monitors outgoing comms i think?

EDIT: Sorry, ignore, it's Linux only.

Nethogs should do what you want - http://nethogs.sourceforge.net/. You'll probably have to compile it from source though, as it doesn't look like there are any OS X binaries.
