hey guys,

I am having some issues with my internet..using a cat6 Ethernet cable.

sometimes webpages seem to take an age to load in, plus in online games the occasional rubber-banding.. now i have terrible speeds, around 70 meg and on the EE platform.

can a cable just suddenly go "bad"?

im going to order a new one i think to test out, as i dont think this one is the best quality anyways..

anything else i can try guys?

What speed are you paying for?

Very unlikely that it's anything to do with a cable if it was working fine before.

im paying for 70meg. its the most i can get in my area.

yeah i was thinking that, i have noticed from previous cable management though the cable has a few "kinks" could this be an issue?

my mother is on her mac now and again.

can having a extra device being used along with my internet speeds cause this? just one extra device? surely not?

Does the speedtest result change when you are having the issue? If so post it when the issue is occurring.

It happens for a split second, can’t really do a test to pinpoint that.

Yes absolutely - even just opening a web page causes a burst of traffic that will saturate your connection and delay gaming packets enough to cause issues

Ideally you need to implement qos, bandwidth limiting/shaping or other combinations to better share a low bandwidth connection

Oh really. Wow. Not a lot I can do in that regard unfortunately. Will keep an eye on it but rather frustrating.

Routers/modems can be issues at times as well.

I found some of the provided ones can be garbage they cant handle many devices especially if wireless.

The true way to know if you have issues is to use a proper monitor device and keep track.

yeah, I dont have a lot of experience in this, but, i moved from VodaFone to EE once the contract was up, never had an issue, but a few hickups with EE in comparison.
