Sister just moved into a new flat and is wanting internet, but without an active landline (due to £ a month).

Is there any way to get internet without an active landline? According to VM she isn't in a cable area, so that kinda doesn't help!

Also thinking about Mobile Broadband, 15GB usage is ~£20/month.

Cheers for any help!

You can't get ADSL without an active phone line so if she doesn't want to go that route, and can't get VM, then some form of mobile Internet is the only way to go.

Bear in mind that mobile internet is likely to be pretty slow, and extremely slow if your sister's not in a 3G coverage area.

She's used my phone up there before and said it was fine (T-Mobile WnW 3GB Package). So i guess Mobile Broadband is the way! We also had a T-Mobile dongle thing, but they've set it up wrong so have to take it back (again), and said it was fine when using it.

Mobile broadbrand is pretty much the only option but of there was any oter option it's probably better.

Yeah, gonna have a gander tomorrow.

Cheers.

No naked DSL in the UK?

We have it over here in Oz. As long as a phone line has been connected at some point in the past, you can get ADSL2+ on it without having to have an active phone contract at the same time.

Thought as much.

£20/month for 18 months for 15GB limit, 10p every MB over the limit. Hmm.

Why take out a contract if she is getting a landline soon? Get a PAYG mobile broadband stick and just use the internet less until the landline is put in and then get ADSL.

exactly what the gf did when she moved in to a new flat

mobile dongle on 30 day renewable contract

broadband goes in tomorrow

then give 30 days notice and cancel the mobile..

she had orange £15pm i think for 3gb

The network are capable of providing this, its just BT who don't want it! :(

if you have a quidco account you can get a hefty cashback on mobile BB if you pick the right provider.

Deals on adsl can inlcude paying landline as part of packageie talktalk etc
