Hello everybody,

I am trying to get an internship with some sort of financial corporation, bank, investment firm anything really. Im doing a dual degree in Accounting as well as banking and finance and really want to get some experience next summer.

I'm struggling to get even an interview though, I cant really see what I'm doing wrong, I have a perfect GPA, two strong subjects I go to a good school and am a member of the banking society and the accounting honors program yet I still cant seem to even get a response.

I thought about just getting a job and working for a year but I cant seem to find a position which is on my level, I've applied for a few that are slightly above but they wont even look at me due to no experience, no degree obtained yet etc etc.

I have worked every single vacation since I was 16 but mainly in retail so it's not exactly relevant experience.

Does anyone have any tips or any advice?

Does it have to be a financial corp? Why not approach big companys like BMW for example and manage their accounts?

Edit: Or even little ones for the time being to gain experience.

Can you suggest anyways to approach them? I look on their websites and there is usually not a whole lot and if there is I'm pretty sure they just ignore it all.

Ideally I would email someone important directly but finding an email is again, a task in its self.

Basically you've got to do something creative or know someone in the industry.

I have friends in similar situations.. over the last few years since "everyone" has gone to university our country is full of graduates and there just are not enough jobs to go around.

And yes the financial industry is all about firing and not hiring at the moment.

Maybe approach debt recovery and liquidation companies I'm sure business is booming for them.
