Just starting listening, impressed so far. What do you think?

I see them Sept 14th in Madison Sq. Garden - NYC:eek::D

never heard anything by em :o

heard someone compare them to JD the other day though which made me interested in checkin em out

then i forgot :o

absolute dross. loved the first 2 albums but hate this. i almost started a thread awhile back to rant about how crap i thought it was. :D

still if you like it, good for you. and i'm sure a trip to nyc will be awesome.

I've only listened to tracks 1 to 4, love them all - am I in for a suprise with the rest of the album?:(

Edit- Track 2 is quite Arcade Firey:o

hehe, it's safe to say i'm in the minority so you can safely ignore me. i recently posted my ramblings on the lastfm shoutbox for the album and was flamed by pretty much everybody. most people seem to like it.

one track i like - rest my chemistry, sounds completely different to anything they've ever done. that's an ok tune.

but the rest is weak. it's just missing that interpol "sound". there's no more throbbing bass, the drums and guitar are just very "meh" (where's that zoidberg pic). all the focus is now on the songs/vocals and i don't like it.

Been meaning to get hold of this.

If I don't like it I'll just stick Editors on and pretend that was the new Interpol album.

now the editors are awful.

New interpol cd is okay, nothing on turn on the bright lights, though. For me they've never matched Leif Erikson - imo their best song by miles.

I'm seeing them in november at ally pally, which should be good. Problem with the new album (as is widely reported) is that the thing they were ahead of everyone on - rythym section (Carlos D) - has been toned down, so there's nowhere near as much atmosphere as before. And interpol = atmosphere so its not a great cd imo.

just been listening to tracks on you tube , seems i have heard em before just not paid much attention

singer sounds a bit like moby well especially on "evil", the rest of em sound like any other indie band of the moment

nothing special IMO

all seems rather depressing too

Check out "PDA" "Obstacle 1" and "Leif Erikson", they're the best interpol songs, oh and "the specialist". Awesome tracks :)

I think "Not even jail" is still my favourite Interpol track.

I'm going to see them at the Razzmatazz in Barcelona on the 9th with 2 friends, really excited for it and I'm just hoping we get 'Untitled' or 'Public Pervert' (I'm a bassist and I love the bass in these two), if they play both I may just die.

As for OLTA, it's a great, steady album but nothing ground breaking which is kind of what I was after, alas they're my favourite band by some way so I was bound to love it.

The bass playing stands out a mile for most of their songs, it's probably why I like them as much.

You can check out their current set lists on their site forum.
Enjoy the gig on the 9th.

I'd be seeing them if they weren't playing at Ally Pally, it's crap there

Yeah, I had (have) 2 tickets to Ally Pally on the Thursday, but something came up and I needed to change it to the Friday, but I thought I'd be a bit more ambitious and ask my friends if they'd like to go to Barcelona instead, luckily we got flights from RyanAir for £16 return inc. all taxes, so we should do the whole trip in <£100 which is a bonus.

Indeed, Carlos is a brilliant bass player, I really like the drop in Untitled, it's the first song I ever heard and I remember from the first minute that I knew this band were special, it's still my favourite 'pol song.

Suppose this is quite heavily related, so I'll stick it here, has anyone else got the Black Sessions they did in France around the TOTBL period? Specialist and Untitled on there are just amazing, they really do sound incredible live, almost exactly like the CD ..

I keep checking the setlist thread on the forums and they keep sneaking Untitled and Public Pervert in every few gigs :D I'm just hoping I'll get lucky, and cheers I intend to enjoy it immensely, I've been waiting years for this
