Interpret this HP P800 data please?

OK, so I need someone to confirm I'm reading this right and the diagnosis :)

At the start of the year, I purchased a P800 RAID card. I'm planning to gradually migrate all my storage onto this card with the eventual aim of shifting everything to VMWare.
On boot, I'm getting an error about battery backup not being available, and this is the logfile:

Am I correct in assuming I need a new battery pack for the card? The current pack appears to have system 12V power light illuminated, but nothing else. (Very hard to see!)
(I've found and ordered a second battery for under a tenner, but is the current one OK or not?)

The cache error has confused me a little, as does the battery status OK :)

I *think* it's saying cache is disabled because it doesn't like the battery, but I'm by no means certain.

The battery error on bootup and the fact that it's detecting 512mb of cache correctly lead me to the battery status LEDs- From my amateur reading of the HP manual and the status lights, LED2 should be solid amber (3.3v battery power). As this isn't lit, it seems to me that I have no volts coming from the battery. Further, I should also have battery volts in my report which I don't? (This has been in there unused for months charging)

Anyone who knows these cards please? :)
If I had a HP support contract, I'd call them, but I don't..........

Cause of this one:
The HP P800 requires a minimum of two batteries connected & charged before it'll enable the cache.

Quite why it can't just come out and say that I don't know :p
Similarly, it's not mentioned anywhere in the manual that it requires 2 batteries minimum, not all of us have support contracts......
