I am studying chemical engineering and i have applied for a year long industrial placement at ExxonMobil, i have been succesful in the first two stages and on tuesday i have a telephone interview, this is what information they have given me:

*
It will last approximately 30 minutes

*
It will focus on your skills & experiences, all the questions
will start off with "give me an example of a time when...."

*
There will be no technical questions about the Company or the
role at this stage

*
Note that this interview is a formal part of the selection
process and is therefore important.

So does anybody have any idea as to what kind of things they could ask?

It will focus on your experiences and how you've dealt with situations. They'll be looking for you to show your skills, including communication, leadership, team work, decision making, initiative etc. Some skills are more important than others depending on the role.

Try and have 1 or 2 examples for each competence ready

Do a search on google for 'competence interview'. There's a lot of useful info

Good luck
