Hi guys, wondering if any of you can offer me some advice!

I have an interview at Johnson Matthey next week for an industrial placement, I live 2.5 hours away so am going to stay in a hotel, apart from Royston itself ( :P ) where is the best place to be? I have to be there before 9am and will probably be driving, maybe getting a taxi.

Also, any insider info on Johnson Matthey Interviews would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

You're very close to Cambridge which is alright for a night out.

As for where to live, Royston isnt 'that' bad, but you also have Letchworth 10 mins down the road, but be warned it only has 2 pubs and both are pretty naff.

Looks lovely

Thanks redeye, i'm just thinking about the short term at the minute, but thats useful.

Sounds like Royston isn't THE place to be then ::eek:

I don't think you can stay there. It's for local people.
Looks a bit like that on google maps!

Royston is ok, stevenage, letchworth, hitchin all up the road but assume you just care for the hotel at present?

Pretty much just care about the hotel for now. But ANY local info is good, because my mother and step father are in the process of re-locating to that area in the next few months and we have no idea where's good and bad...

worst 'I'm going to an interview at Johnson Matthey' thread ever
was going to do an inb4 but assumed nobody would :(

Well some of us already work at JM ;) and spend loads of time travelling over (nearly) all of the UK sites.

Stay in Cambridge. Tbh, you'd be better off renting a flat than staying in a hotel. It will be cheaper and nicer. £1,000 pcm should get you a nice-ish one bed on the west side of the city.

There's a couple of morning trains from Cambridge to Royston, or it's about 20-30 minutes away by car. Forget taxis, it'll cost a fortune.

It's an ok town. The heath is nice in particular.

I wouldn't choose to live there. You could live in Cambridge and cycle or get the train.

Letchworth only has two pubs but Baldock which is nearer has about 14 pubs.

No, I'll probably be at one of the other sites up north (stoke or billing ham)

I'm assuming your going for ECT, I think the best advice to offer is not to try and sound clever; JM have that if oodles and is nothing special, your though process will be important. Also learn before had what JM core ethics are, what is the main business driver (don't say profit!!)

Good luck, let me know how it goes and if you do get it I might try and wangle a visit at some point.

Shame! I am indeed, the job description gave me that impression somehow. Thanks very much for the tips, I'll be sure to keep the thread updated!
