Interview + Notepad?

I always employ people who look prepared and well swatted. Take your notes, use them sparingly... remember to speak to the interviewer, not to your notes.

Use the pad to write down the answers to the questions you ask them - thus further justifying their presence.

It's easy to overanalyse these things, but I would read lack of notes (for recording answers at least) as perhaps indicate of lack of preparation or lack of interest. Notes of a few questions also suggests forethought, planning and attention to detail, to ensure you don't omit to cover something important.

I wouldn't read a few notes and a pad as bad, but I might read lack of them negatively.

It is, however, far from the most significant point about an interviewee. It just contributes to the overall impression of him/her.

no notes

you should know the information already and not have to refer to it. it cant be that much information to remember.

thats my opinion anyway. lots of candidates will prepare for an interview. most wont have notes, however most will have the same information.

thats my opinion from having conducted a fair few interviews anyway

good luck

If you were in the job, and went to a meeting for example, you'd presumably be expected to prepare for it - know what it was about, what needed to be discusse4d etc.

Bringing notes to an interview (but, as mentioned, brief ones) is a Good Thing.

I'd be a little surprised at someone bringing notes to an interview but I wouldn't mind as long as they were used sensibly and not quoted verbatim to answer questions.

depends on the job BUT if its anything technical its a definite no-no. i'd expect my employees to know what theyre talking about without the need for notes. if you use notes then youre obviously not qualified...

you may get away with it behing a social/public related job but then again do you think you'll be able to carry your notebook around the workplace if they ever hired you? hmm... i think not...

i think the most common use for notes is to have your questions that you wish to ask already prepared, saves you neglecting to ask anything you wanted as mentioned earlier

other than that i wouldnt have anything written down on it, and possibly leave it aside until such a time as you're offered to ask questions

I cruised an interview last week and half way through the interviewer commented on my notepad and the fact that I was taking notes of what was said. It seemed obvious he liked me as he was being very honest about people that were not getting the job. He said some people went as far as asking him for something to take notes on and even could he e-mail them any information they need.

Bottom line is, even if you dont use it.........take a pen and pad as it will help to emphasise the professional image you are trying to portray :) In my experience if you dont take it then you will need to write something down :D You wouldnt turn up to a uni lecture with nothing to take notes on would you?

yes to notes. but be polite and ask first.

Making a few notes shows that you are the sort of person who is well diciplined and organised.

Prepared notes i.e. questions, show that you have not come into the interview unprepared. But becarefull not to ask something that has already been answered.

I don't think there would be to many employers who would see this as a bad thing.
