Interview with Toys R Us

Toys R Us was my first job!

Its crap. Teentronics or the back is the best!
Teentronics is good if you like technology.
The back is great because you don't have to serve customers and you can work up a decent sweat!

Remember to dye your hair black, grow your fringe long overnight, gel it infront of your eyes, wear black eyeliner, white facepaint, a spiked collar and wrist bands, New Rock boots, and grunt whever you're asked something.
Good luck!

It'll be the usual introduce yourself and tell the group something interesting about you, before moving onto the teamwork excerises mentioned above.

Just be polite and confident and you'll be fine.

Talk about how much you love kids and just want to see them happy all the time, then pull out a picture of a random kid from your pocket and say 'do you know if this one comes here?', then go to a different pocket and pull out a different photo and ask the same.

They'll think you're secretly father christmas* and be so overjoyed that they'll start you on 3x the salary for PR purposes.

* may not be true

I've heard one of their training exercises is to build a Lego Statue of Geoffrey that is 20ft tall and you only have 20 mins. I think you will fail.

when i worked for Toys R us many moons ago back in 2001/2002 as a temp job the interview consisted of filling some forms for the first 30 minutes or so.
Then asked about your interests and where you think you would be best positioned in the store ie babies r us, teentronics, bikes r us, epos operator, shelf stacker etc.

They will probably ask you how you would deal with a couple of hypothetical situations ie difficult customer, returns, etc

They give you some info on the company and what is expected of you and then finally get you to make a couple of calls on the in store tannoy system so that you feel comfortable using it and also give you some of the special phrases they use for certain things ie Fire, somebody stealing items etc.

If your at interview stage then generally speaking you are pretty much in for a job considering the vast number of people they usually get applying for temp jobs at christmas.

Oh they will probably tell you a few other things that are expected of you such as the one night of stock taking they do for the entire building just after christmas.

But as others have said as long as you are polite and confident in your answers then you should be fine.

Good Luck.

PS. Unless times have changed Staff don't get any sort of discount :(

Went, but I didnt get it.:(

They did the trick of getting us to fill out a maths test, and then asking certain persons away to fill out extra stuff on their applications, which they said in no way meant anything, I didnt get called back.

In the interview we had to get to know the person next to us and then introduce them. We then had to sort a folder. Then we had to do a poster for store of the month or something. Then we had two debates one about whether football players should be payed as much as they are and the other about whether the internet should be banned. Lastly we had to sell some stupid toy.

Consolation is I wasnt as bad as the guy next to me.
