just came across this while i browsing seems like ATI have something big planned for the Q3-Q4 of 2010, maybe this is that refresh of 5870 that is buzzing around the fourms or the all new architecture that some people say that coming late 2010 or early 2011.

Apparently the refresh is coming out around the same time as Nvidia release Fermi, that's the suspicion anyway.

'Northern Islands' is the name of the next-gen/6xxx GPUs.

I like how the link you pointed to says 'Item Bargain Exclusive' and then links to a load of other sites that they read the news on. It's been known about for ages that this was the plan. I wouldn't think it'll be 32nm either, since they've only just got 40nm working.

On a more truthfull note, it looks like ATI is firing on all cylinders with the 6800. Why give Nvidia any breathing room?
