If it's the one I'm thinking of then it's a couple of nerds whining about Apple and having a huge amount of rules that they never really qualify around being able to claim something as an invention, so apparently software doesn't count. Their major complaint was that in their eyes all Apple do is spend a lot of time researching and testing things that other companies have developed (display tech, CPUs etc), pay them to supply these products, put them together in a way that doesn't break in five minutes and also looks like something that you'd want to use (Acer could learn from that), and then write some nice software and sell millions of the things.

Obviously it's very easy to assemble a bunch of parts into a nice product and write a decent software suite to run on top of it, this is why every random Chinese OEM is building desirable tablets and selling them in huge quantities.
