Introduction clip for youtube channel

So I have a youtube channel and I want to make an introduction clip.

Does anyone have any pointers where I can start learning this, pointers towards the software required etc.

The prankvsprank intro clip there with the bricks blowing off.

Along these sort of lines is what I'm after trying to do for myself.

I use Sony Vegas, but usually just find project files online that are free and modify them. Afraid I wouldn't know how to make one from scratch.
