atm i have been using word to edit the information, then i upload to pdfoline to convert to pdf and then email this to the customer. takes way too long and is open for too many mistakes.

hoping someone can recommend some software to use that'll let us just fill in the details of what happened and then price, and it'll do the rest, i.e add date, add latest invoice number, and then if possible save as a pdf.

any software that can do that?

I use Open Office. You can save any document as a pdf using the export functionality. You can create macros to automate things like dates if you wish.

For the PDF part

You could use something like doPDF, which you can get from www.fileforum.com

it installs itself as a printer, so when you go to print the document choose the dopdf as the printer and it will save it as a pdf for you.

As for the invoice generator I built something similar for the wife's uncle using open office (he didn't have word) it was relatively simple. I'll try to remember this evening and send an edited copy to you and you can see if it suits your needs and you can amend it.

CurePDF Writer is the more popular one.

that'll be great if you could do that :)

There are lots of Invoice templates to use for Excel & Word to download for free from the net .I've strugled to find a program that will do Quotations , I dont think any do , Estimate's and Invoices is all you get .I have tried loads of programs over the years ,Quicken , MYOB ,SAGE ,a free Microsoft one that they gave away a couple of years ago .I've used Expert Forms for 10 years now but you have to add and calculate your data manually , the good thing about this program is it lets you design any form you would ever need .
I've now switched to using Excel with the help of my next door neighbor ,he lectured on the use of word & excel and is a wizz kid on the subject. He's designed a template for me with formulas etc , I just added a logo and it looks OK .
I use a free pdf maker at work , it's like a printer driver , you just send the document to this and it saves the doc as a pdf .hth
