We use QuickBooks Pro at work £800ish for a 5 user licence

There's a download of QuickBooks SimpleStart for £40

Or you could use a spreadsheet. OpenOffice is free.

I'm sure there's probably a freeware simple accounting application floating around the net somewhere.
