Hi. I have recently bought some Homeplugs to connect the HDD and keep the speed at 100mbit/s but looks is gone down and is slower. The reason I connected to homeplugs is because over WI-FI the speed is slow as well and I thought I will improve my speed and will work at full speed of 100mb/s. At the beginning was ok but now something happens and I don`t know where to look.

Does anybody has an idea where to look or to improve my speed? My homeplugs all are 500mb/s so it should support the speed.

Thank you.

They might, or they might not. If they don't like your wiring they can be very slow. Just using a different socket, or unplugging things like mobile phone chargers can have a significant impact.

The only guaranteed fix is to use a cable, but obviously that isn't always possible.

With modern wiring there's a greater chance that the adapters will be on separate circuits, and possibly connected to different sides of the consumer unit. Adapters don't need to be on the same circuit, but they do work better if they are.

Also, you aren't going to get a true 100Mb/s connection with AV500 adapters unless you have ideal conditions.

32Mb/s (4MB/s) is the lower end of what you'd expect from AV500 adapters. 80Mb/s (10MB/s) is unrealistic under most circumstances.

Take a look at the information available here http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/lanwan/powerline-charts/view.

So why would they advertise it will go up to 500Mbps if they know it will not reach even 50% of the speed? Also I am thinking about compatibility as I have 2 homeplugs Devolo and 2 TP-Link.

Because the 500Mbps they're talking about is the potential maximum PHY (physical layer) rate. There's a lot to take into account by the time you start looking at actual file transfer rates as reported by the OS.

It's very similar to how Wi-Fi rates are quoted.
