iOS 4.1 iPhone 3GS sync issues

My wife has a 3GS and I've just tried to sync the pictures & videos on it with her WinXP Netbook.
Using iTunes 10 it has backed up & hopefully synced her music and Aps fine. However when I try and sync the Photos nothing seems to happen. There's approx 1.5Gb of photos on the phone but My Pictures on the Netbook is full of empty folders. The iPod Photo Cache folder is 1.8Gb but all the 50 folders are empty? Any ideas?

Ok, should the photos & videos on the phone be syncing with iTunes & copying over to the My Pictures folder on the Netbook. Or is the syncing the other way, Netbook to iPhone?

I come in to see if I can help you cause I am using 3GS, but not XP, I use Windows 7. So, do you mean you want to sync pics and videos from XP to 3GS?

Thanks. Both ways actually, to backup all the photos and videos off the 3GS.
