Is this gonna be the start of the random advertising popups on Apple devices?

I really don't want to start being mithered by stupid ads popping up when ever they feel like it. I can watch telly or the shopping channels if i want all that.

Free apps do it anyway, at least with this it won't take you out from your app.

If they appear in paid apps I won't be impressed.

Will be most annoyed if they turn up on the iPad or phone during normal useage

while using trial/free apps is one thing but for core uses they better not

Well if they do they will lose a lot of revenue.

A phone is within most people's 'personal sphere'. It invade it usually results in churn (people leaving operators or device manufacturers).

Ads appearing during the device's normal operation with cause a massive boom in hacks - which is exactly what Apple loathe and spend a lot of time and effort trying to thwart.

Certainly would give MuscleNerd and the Dev Boys something to do though.

if it does start popping up, £5 says they work out how to remove that part from jailbroken phones.

If they stay in the (free) apps then fine. I hardly think they are going to appear while you're reading your texts or using the iPod - that would be ridiculous.

If ads are just a bitter pill we all have to swallow then I'd rather they came through a platform like this as opposed to a hundred different ad-hoc implementations.

Are using iAds mandatory or is it running alongside the current in-app ads?

It has been billed as a way for developers to make more money from their (Free) apps. I very much doubt ads will start popping up in apps such as Messages or Mail.
