With Find My iPhone turned on in iOS 7, your Apple ID and password will be always be required before anyone can:

• Turn off Find My iPhone on your device.
• Erase your device.
• Reactivate and use your device.

Let's make it as difficult as possible for thieves. :)

Good advice.

I had a pop up during the initial set up asking me if I wanted to enable Find My iPhone, so hopefully most people should have it enabled.

It has asked you to enable this since it first appeared on the scene. There's no excuse except ignorance for not enabling it.

The fact that people don't use such a basic tool that can track/lock/erase a lost device perplexes me :confused :

I was at the football on Monday night and my cousin was panicking that he'd left porn on his iPad.. Downloaded the "find my iPhone" app and within a minute he'd locked the iPad from his mrs. Without this I'd imagine a tricky conversation haha!

Hahaha that's hilarious :D

That's why you should also use a pin lock.

Edit. Whilst location services can be disabled, if the ios device goes online then lost mode will be activated which switches location services back on again
