Why is that nearly every app I download from the app store isn't the latest version.

The past five or six apps including backing apps that I've downloaded are out of date. Why doesn't the app store just give you the very latest version to download instead? Just seems odd, and something I'm not used to coming from Android.

Are you saying the version numbers dont match with Android?

When you download the App, are you then being notified that an update is available, I have not seen this, generally you should get the latest compatible version, if your iOS device is not running the latest iOS release its possible that the latest versions of the App have dropped support for the older iOS release and you therefore get an older compatible version.

I thought you could only get the latest version, as in it's impossible to get older ones.
Out of interest, how do you know they're out of date?

I actually don't think it's possible, once an update has been verified and published to the app store, the older version is no longer signed by Apple (with the exception being iOS version of course).
