iOS keyboard, cursor irritation

Loving the iPad and touch typing on the keyboard actually works pretty well, however, one thing that is driving me up the wall is the lack of up down left right cursor keys. It seems you can't tap the cursor into words, and If I want to correct a mistake I have to backspace to the error rather than moving the cursor to do an edit!

Am I being simples? Is there a better way.

Also, where is the 4 finger swipe page forward page back I am used to on my MacBook. Where is it?

You can tap and hold your finger over the text to see a magnifying bubble showing the cursor, so you can drag it to your mistake and edit it that way.

I don't think you can 4 finger swipe, at least not without jailbreaking...

It should be three finger swipe on the MacBook. Doesn't exist on the iPad.

Sorry, it's so engrained I actually have no idea how many fingers the gesture is, lol. I can't understand why it's not built into safari iOS.

Tap and drag is part of the copy pasta system, and again, you can't tap select inside a word, only a word and something else. Given "three tables" I can highlight three, tables, three ta, ee tables, etc, but not able, re, etc. And I can only place the cursor either side of a complete word.

I also find autocorrect simultaneously wonderful and extremely annoying. Some mistypes get totally malformed.

You can, just hold down until the magnifying glass appears then move to where you want to go, and release.

Holy mackerel I just got it. Thank you.

Rather embarrassing really as neither the missus nor i could figure it out. I am quite prepared to accept I am a thickie but that action seemed somewhat counter intuitive. I don't see why you can't just single tap at the approximate location.

In your case don't try it on an iPhone then.:p

I'm still not 100% with it.

You're welcome :D

Oh wow, that works, I've been bugged by the same issue.

Thanks mate

Bad apple, that wasn't as intuitive as it should have been
