So everyone knows they won't be giving the update to 2G users.

What does this mean, will there be apps on the appstore that won't install due to not having the up to date iOS even though we have no way of upgrading to the newer version? This is going to really devalue the 2G's further and in some cases, you won't be able to get updates for apps you own...

N95 at the time of launch was that much as I was looking at one.

Upgrade now would be my advise.

Complaining about your 2G being not supported any more is like Power PC Mac owners complaining that OS X is no longer supported on their computers.

It's very similar hardware to that of the 3G phone though, there's no reason other than greed (as usual with Jobs) that the 2G can't remain to be supported.

Trying to liken it to PowerPC to x86 architecture is ludicrous.

I have a 2G and it is a dog now Rally would like to upgrade but can't afford (bike purchase).

It's really not _that_ bad, since upgrading to latest firmware mine actually feels faster.

I compared it against my girlfriends iPod Touch 3G and things do load a bit faster.
