ios6 puts Android to shame

Minimalistic maps are better, google maps are just too cluttered with info. Handy to find your way around but looks pap.

I prerer to look good than know where I am.

Turn by turn navigation is a vital thing that apple has finally put into their OS. However while apple updates iOS, they remove features for the older devices. No siri or navigation for iphone 4 for example.

The right hand turn by turn UI looks quite nice at least. Fairly simple like Google Nav.

Siri on the steering wheel will be useful as well, if you have a decent car with its own voice control system the noise cancelling speaker should be decent and won't be affected by car noise. I'm looking forward to trying that, if it works. :p

TBH iOS6 isn't a big update at all, just adding some few missing features that should have been there from the start. But I guess compared to android they have 2 different models, android is the most finished OS in terms of features, nothing comes close, they put all the features they could and as of 4.0 they have been putting a lot more thought into optimizing it and making it look all pretty. Were as iOS made something more optimised from the start but without as much features and is fixing up the holes in the OS now.

Lol at the comments to the article, no one is falling for the fan boyism!

I thought Apple turned to Openstreet map rather than TomTom?
Would explain why its so lacking but even openstreet map is not that bad!

Yeh, Apple are great. Don't release apps which would work fine on an iphone 4.

Last I checked, google maps and navigation are available to all android phone and google earth is available to anything at the level of an iphone 4.

Planned obsolescence. Not saying that a lot of android manufacturers don't do this. A lot of phones (at the level of an iphone 4) will be left behind on Gingerbread instead of getting Ice Cream Sandwich, but Google don't do this.

iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S currently in the UK Apple store. I hope people now stop going on about Android fragmentation.

Anyone know if you can disable the FB integration? Or if you don't add a FB account to the phone, the option to send pic/song/**** status update etc.. to FB doesn't appear?

I have no use for FB, and tbh it really puts me off upgrading when iOS 6 arrives (let alone the craptacular maps "update" info everyone is posting up!).

Everything Apple seems to do these days gets a yawn from me. I'm glad I TOTALLY moved away from them over a year ago. The only new things in iOS6 I care about my Nokia Lumia already has.

This makes me REALLY excited to see what Microsoft brings to the table with Windows Phone 8.

20:35 onwards.

The Stig is a BBC owned trademark.

Silent, helmeted driver, in an all white suit who doesn't speak and is unknown. He even does the Stig crossed arm pose.

Hypocrisy much Apple?

I personally don't care, but when this has been pointed out in article comments, Apple fanboys have been quick to mention that it's a stupid thing to claim trademark rights to. Flat rectangular touch based tablet anyone?

Saying that, I've been very impressed with the new Macbook Pro. Genuinely a laptop far ahead of the competition.

OMG Apple in stealing ideas shocker lol

I hope the BBC patent is tight, otherwise we'll end up with the iStig and the BBC sued ;)

You have to login via the Settings app in the same way as for Twitter. If you don't want it don't login. :)
