is it possible to track someone down by there ip address as i had a buyer pay me with dodgy money through paypal and i have their ip address

Dodgy money?

And not really. ISP's can do it on the instruction of the authorities, but don't expect to find much out yourself. Just raise a dispute and let the powers that be sort it. Much less hassle :)

that depends on the users account, im with plusnet and have a static ip so it never changes afaik.
how much sorta cash are you losing out on here? £10's? £100's? or worse? :(

That's for the IP address, not a detective to hunt this guy down, although I imagine the real Sam Spade would be able to help you out that too :D

What a cruddy site. All it does is look for a PTR record for the IP address you enter.

The whois on ripe.net (or arin.net if US based) would probably be more use.
