Hi.

I hope this is not a competitor thing... I'm sure it's not as Ocuk do not sell this brand.

Anyway, I have a BT Voyager 2091 Wireless ADSL Router. I was thinking of ditching my software firewall, and use the hardware one.

In the Security Config menu of the BT Router it tells me that the IP Filtering is 'Enabled', but there is a second menu asking me to select direction of filter packets... do I need to config this?

I only use my connection to download patches/purchase stuff online and look at the football news.

I'm a complete noob, and need some sage, no nonsence advice.

Thanks guys.

well I can't find the manual for that one, so can't comment :p

I'd keep the software firewall for now, some of them do more than block ports (which is all your router will do). They will also look at what application is trying to access a connection etc.

It's not rocket science for malware to bypass a hardware firewall.

edit:
BT's voyager technical support is a joke, where is the darn manual ?
