IP35 and 8Gb OCZ

On my Abit IP35 (not pro or E) I've been running 4Gb OCZ2RPR800C44GK at auto settings for nearly a year, just fine and dandy. Latest BIOS version 16.

This week I bought another two modules of exactly the same RAM to make 8Gb and haven't so far got the rig to POST.

Nothing is overclocked. Power and cooling are more than enough.

Memtest shows no errors on any module. Any combination of 4Gb works in either pair of DIMMs but not all four with 8Gb.

Abit just say "get different RAM" - helpful, I don't think! OCZ were slightly more helpful and suggested some voltages and settings which didn't work.

Has anyone managed to get 8Gb of this RAM to POST on this board and what are the settings?

Failing that, if anyone has 8Gb of other RAM working at stock speed on this board what sort is it and what are the settings?

If there is a DDR2 Ref Voltage option on the standard IP35 then set it to +2%.

There's no ref voltage in this BIOS as far as I can see

I've had DDR2 voltage up to 2.3 and northbridge up to 1.57 but I don't really dare go any higher

Slackening the timings and forcing CMD to 2T doesn't do the trick, neither does fiddling with the Trfc to 54 or 60.

I get a POST just fine on virtually any settings with 4Gb but as soon as I power up with 8Gb it goes into a strop and just beeps!

I could just keep trying every possible combination of settings but of course each time it doesn't POST I have to physically remove a pair of sticks and then shove them back in after getting into the BIOS - highly tedious and there must be thousands of combinations.

I have the OCZ "4x2" sticks, and they ran fine at 960 in my GA-EP35 board at v1.9 and 960Mhz. I moved to a P45 board and they don't even need the extra .1 on the bridge voltage at all.

In any case, the sticks were rated at v2.0/v2.1 and they in fact even run fine at v1.8 at stock speed.
